EMMA|PHOENIX|FLOWERS

Emma’s 25 plus year career in fashion and design ran alongside the dream of opening a flower shop & creative studio. A culmination of entering senior management, moving her family from London to Surrey, and the dramatic change within the fashion industry, meant that Emma’s creative process was once again drawn to nature and the wild outdoors of her childhood.

Emma approached her good friend Nicole, with over 30 years of experience working at London’s top florists,  to take on the role as Head Florist. The Potting Shed in Wickhams Yard, Limpsfield opened to great acclaim in March 2023, and what began was an unexpected journey. 

Following the commercial route of sourcing flowers from large offshore growers, it proved impossible to offer customers the width and choice they envisaged without financial and floral waste. Emma sought out local British growers, which became a great selling point, and soon realised that this was an industry not fully utilising its potential, with British flower farms only producing 14% of UK stock. She set up a small scale flower farm within her garden and 1950's greenhouse which they quickly outgrew. Excited  by a creative process she could control from concept to execution, Emma began to dream bigger.  With the support of her husband Alex, they bit the bullet and embraced the challenge of taking on an acre of land from a supportive customer to start their flower farm, and Emma Phoenix Flowers was born.

In less than six months the business has caught the eye of many creatives. Emma Phoenix Flowers is now the official Soho House group florist for all private events at their London venues.  Alongside weddings, seasonal workshops and large scale events at venues including Heckfield Place and Maison Estelle, Emma Phoenix Flowers has secured partnerships with local luxury venues Squerryes, Botley Hill Barn and The Beacon. With the hard labour of preparing and planting throughout Autumn and Winter, the farm is set for a great first year.  Using Emma’s trend forecasting background and knowledge of the land, the farm is planted with a mixture of native and exotic blooms, and a wide range of green and woody foliages creating stunning displays in their own right, as well as the framework to hang floral installations and displays, all while adding to the diversity and wildlife of the farm.  We provide beautiful flowers from field to fruition, ethically and sustainably.
